Mid-Cities Math Circle (MC)² Seminar

Goals: The main goal of the Mid-Cities Math Circle seminar is to provide a stimulating environment for local area middle- and high-school students to learn mathematics. Regular attendance of the (MC)² seminar will help students not only improve their individual problem-solving skills, but also enjoy and understand mathematics better. More specifically the Mid-Cities Math Circle seminar will

  • attract students’ attention to mathematics and motivate them to excel in the subject;
  • prepare students for mathematical contests;
  • introduce them to the beauty of advanced mathematical theories;
  • encourage them to pursue careers related to mathematics such as scientists, educators, engineers, economists, and business leaders.

General Information: The seminar runs weekly through the Spring Semester and every other week in the Fall.  (MC)² is designed for students in 8th-12th grades.   students in lower grades are welcome as well but should be advised that a solid mathematical background is required in order to follow the discussions.

Applying for the (MC)² Seminar: There is no cost for attending the seminar. If you want to participate in the Mid-Cities Math Circle, please send an e-mail with your name, grade and your school name to Dr. Dimitar Grantcharov at grandim@uta.edu.

    Hi I have a 12 year old son who is in sixth grade. I homed schooled him this year for the first time. He has been in advanced math in public school and has excelled. I started out teaching him 6/8 Saxon math that was way to easy for him. I am doing SOS with all of his other subjects. So i started him on the 6th grade SOS and that was to easy for him. I we have now moved on the the 7th grade SOS which is just as easy for him he is doing a whole section in a weeks time. It all seems to be a review for him. I believe he could be at algebra level of math. He loves math and does well with it when challenged. I myself is very bad in math. I would like to know if this program would be good for my son or at the least to try it out to see where his level of math is.
    Thank You Samara

    I am a program’s coordinator at Math Zoom Academy. I navigated through your website, and love the passion and drive the math circle has for teaching young minds mathematics. We share that same interest with you! Math Zoom Academy is a prestigious organization that develops and provides fun and exciting enrichment programs for students who are mathematically gifted or passionate about math. Math Zoom Academy offers the opportunity for students to expand their mathematical horizons, improve problem solving skills, explore areas in advanced mathematics, and develop well rounded skill sets to grow into successful leaders in a variety of professional fields. Math Zoom Academy also offers a national residential summer camp, in which mathematically gifted students can be challenged and given the opportunity to socialize with peers with similar interests and aptitudes. Please feel free to check out our website for more information: http://www.mathzoom.org.

    I am contacting you today to inquire about the possibility of inserting a link to the Math Zoom website on your page. We would like for gifted math students and their parents to gain awareness of such accelerated math programs, which could benefit their future studies and careers.

    Thank you for the consideration!

    Sincerely,
